(Prize Fund Will Be Based on 20 Paid Adult Entries)

$5 of each entry goes back to the Alberta Chess Association      

Special Pairing Rule Will Be In Effect (from the CFC Handbook): VARIATION 619.1: If specifically requested by the players involved, minor transpositions may be made in the first two rounds of a tournament at the director's discretion in order to avoid pairing players from the same region, city, team, family, etc. but only to the extent that the results of the tournament as a whole are not substantially affected by this procedure.       

When:   June 2 & 3, 2018   

Where:   Sandman Hotel in Grande Prairie (next to Earl's)


Tournament Format:   5 Round Swiss

Time Control:   Game in 90 minutes + 30 sec per move from move one    

Register:   8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Saturday Morning (On Site)    

Round Times:              

Saturday    10 AM, 2:30 PM, 7 PM

Sunday     9 AM, 1:30 PM (or ASAP)   

Entry Fee:   $40 Adults, $30 for Juniors (20 and Under)  

Note:  Entry fees can ONLY be paid at the Sandman Hotel the day of the tournament.     ​

This year's Speed Chess Tournament will be held just 2 blocks north of the Sandman Hotel in the Lexington Apartments (just across from the ReMax building and Tim Hortons).  We will be playing in their beautiful Social Room.

Friday, June 1, 2018 at 8:00 PM

Registration will be from 7 - 7:45 PM on site at the Lexington Apartments Social Room.  

Tournament Details

Time Control:  Game in 5 minutes

Entry Fee:  $10.00

This tournament will be limited to 10 players.  This tournament will be a round robin tournament.  If more than 10 register, we will take the top 10 highest rated players.  (subject to Tournament Director's Discretion)

Refreshments will be Served!!

Players and spectators will be treated to some delicious refreshments!  

So, even if you just want to come and watch, you are most welcome to join us!!
